This page is here so you know exactly what to expect before you join. The AI Roundtable (AIR) brings together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals at every stage of their AI journey—novices and experts, Kansas City and beyond, every industry and role.

Before You Join

Take a few minutes to check your tech:

  • Is your internet connection stable? Any pending software updates?

  • Test your microphone and audio.

  • Check your Zoom settings and lighting.

Cameras are encouraged, though never required. Eating lunch is completely fine — we do it all the time.

What the Session Looks Like

Each gathering is one hour and runs on Zoom. Here's the general flow:

Opening (5-10 min)
We're all together in the main room. Kelly opens with context on the day's topic, and the chat is live right away. Drop in where you're joining from, whether you're new, or any questions you have.

Breakout 1: Introductions (5-8 min)
You'll move into a small group of 3-5 people for quick introductions.

Breakout 2: Topic Discussion (10-15 min)
The same group (or slightly expanded) digs into the first AI topic.

Breakout 3: Deeper Dive (10-15 min)
A third breakout goes deeper. Same group as Breakout 2, usually.

Close (5-10 min)
Back together to share takeaways, ask questions, and hear about the next session.

A Few Things to Know

  1. Sessions are not recorded or transcribed by the hosts or moderators. Notetaking apps are not admitted, so let us know if we miss one. What's shared in the room stays in the room.

  2. You'll be muted when you enter. Unmute when you're ready to talk. If you'd like to speak during the open forum, use the raise hand emoji. Time doesn't always allow everyone to share, but we do our best.

  3. The chat is active and monitored. Use it to ask questions, comment, and share your LinkedIn profile if you'd like to connect with others. The chat is sent to everyone who attends the session.

  4. Engage as much or as little as you're comfortable with. This is a roundtable, and every voice matters — but there's no pressure.

AI Roundtable Host and Moderators

Kelly Byrnes founded the AI Roundtable and serves as host. Kristina Sorrelli and Alex Colley moderate. All three were founding members of the Kansas City AI Club Steering Committee and have planned and attended many AI events together. Reach out to any of them during the session if you need anything.
