Why VCG exists
Voyage Consulting Group was founded in 2016 to do consulting differently. After years working alongside large firms as a client, our founder, Kelly Byrnes, saw the same pattern repeat: heavy disruption, generic frameworks, and recommendations that didn't reflect how the business actually operated.
Companies deserved better. They deserved senior-level thinking, customized to their reality, delivered in a way that respected their time and their teams.

Kelly Byrnes, Founder and CEO
Kelly Byrnes founded Voyage Consulting Group in 2016 after nearly two decades in senior leadership roles across science, technology, and professional services. Her clients range from hospitals and global science firms to architecture, engineering, and technology companies.
Kelly's work focuses on the leadership and culture decisions that quietly determine whether a strategy succeeds. She has helped clients exceed billion-dollar targets, launch new divisions, and raise engagement by 41%. She brings executive leadership experience on senior leadership teams, cross-functional P&L responsibility, and academic credentials as an adjunct professor in the MBA and Executive MBA programs at Rockhurst University, where she was named Adjunct Faculty of the Year.
She is the author of The Basics of Gen AI (2025), a contributor to four Amazon bestsellers, and has been published in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. She holds an MBA from Rockhurst University, a Certificate in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School, and SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications. She has been recognized as a Top 15 Coach in Kansas City and named a KC Chamber Small Business Superstar.
Kelly leads three monthly communities: the AI Roundtable, Culture Matters, and Leadership Book of the Month.
Our network
Voyage Consulting Group works with a network of senior practitioners who lead client engagements alongside Kelly. Each has held senior roles in HR, operations, or organizational development, and most have served on executive leadership teams or led their own firms.
We assemble the right team for each engagement based on the client's industry, the scope of the work, and the specific expertise required. This model gives our clients access to senior-level thinking without carrying the overhead of a large firm, and it ensures the people doing the work have done the work, in roles like the ones our clients hold.
